Fashion Week all Over the World

I’m sure many of you, if you don’t follow fashion week, have at least heard the name. These four weeks make up one of the most important months in the fashion world. New York, Milan, Paris and London make up the four most popular cities for fashion week. These are the shows that are captured via photos and videos, and the ones we all get to read about. However, much of the public outside of the inner fashion world, don’t take the time to read about all of the other fashion weeks that happen across the globe.

Those who follow high fashion and couture will know that fashion week is not limited to the top four locations the world reads about every year. Many cities, and countries in some cases, share in this tradition by holding spectacular high fashion runway shows of their own. Trendsetting cities you would expect to participate such as Los Angeles, Madrid and Tokyo have their own fashion weeks as well as some of the more unexpected locations like Africa, Istanbul and Mumbai! If we keep in mind that there are so many beautiful customs and cultures around the world, it is easy to see how fashion from different corners of the world should be celebrated.

highfashion1highfashion2                  While the most popular shows happen in September, the next show actually runs from August 23rd – 27th, and it is India’s Fashion Week! After going through the lineup of many talented and amazing designers that are expected at this year’s show, I happened upon a few that I just fell in love with! The first designer is a young male designer named Vijay Balhara. His designs are truly phenomenal. He takes modern style and cuts while pulling from traditional Indian culture and meshes them together to make the most beautiful creations for the modern woman (bottom left). Other designers that drew me in were sister design team Barka and Sonzal. Their collection Dance of the Warrior has pieces that feel so high fashion and, in a sense, very regal while clinging to the Indian culture as well (bottom right). I suggest you all check out http://fashionweekonline.com/calendar to keep up with the schedule the best that you can if fashion is one of your main interests!

September marks the month of the top four fashion weeks, or the ones we are all used to reading about. New York Fashion Week starts us off from September 5th – 12th; London Fashion Week follows on September 13th – 17th; Milan is the third Fashion Week from September 18th – 23rd; and Paris Fashion week brings us home on September 24th – October 2nd. During the month of Fashion Weeks, I will do my very best to keep all you lovely people updated on the many amazing collections I’m sure we’ll have the pleasure of seeing. So keep your eye out for my fashion week coverage.

Scare LA August 10 and 11

If you enjoy shopping for Halloween stuff starting now then this is going to be the place for you. Scare LA, August 10-11, is a Halloween convention that not only has thing to buy but classes to take for FX make up, air brushing, tailoring and many more. That of course is not all that is to be offered at this first time convention. There are panels, exhibitors and appearance.  Some of the people that are going to be at the panel are directors, writers; make up/special effect artist like Eric Fox from Face off and Rebekah McKendry, writer on staff of Fangoria. It was announced on Facebook that there would be a panel for this years Knott’s Scary Farm and that they were going to reveal some new stuff going on  at Halloween Haunt. Now if you are more into the shopping there is still a lot to be said. One of my favorite artists is going to be there, Queenie Pocketful of Posiez.  Right now I have this fucking kick ass bag I bought from her. It’s a bowler bag with her painting of the Haunted Mansion Ballet Dancer, which is part of an annual art exhibit where painters do their own rendition of a Haunted Mansion attribute. Queenie of course has her own characters that she paints, she will have a table full of her goodies and currently her Esty shop is down so there is another reason to attend this convention. There are just so much scary goodness going on that it is not something worth passing up. Personally I’m ready for a scary fix of some sort, summer is hot but this is a great way to deal with it. For more information you can go to scarela.com to buy tickets and check out all of the panels, classes and exhibitors. Tickets range from 25 dollars for day pass to 75 with the best of everything. All in all these are fair prices for something that is in LA.
